Wow...I didn't even realize my car was in the running. What an honor! However so far it looks more like Last Eddie.

Re: Vote for 1965-1969 Corvair of the Year
In response to people asking about the story behind my car:
My story on the 1969 Monza Convertible, serial #5825 of 6000, reportedly made on the final day of production.
Bought the car via eBay in 2009 because I love Corvair convertibles, having owned two '64 Monza convertibles since buying the first one in 1982.
It is an original Michigan car but, surprisingly, had almost no rust, having been well-cared for by the previous owners.
My wife and son joined me on the Georgia-Michigan road trip to pickup and trailer the car back home.
Upon its arrival on Georgia soil, I posted photos and details of my purchase on the Corvair Center Phorum. Despite the pleas from the "keep it stock" folks, I knew that this was going to be a tastefully done resto-mod to suit my idea of a really nice car for cruising.
After 5 years, more money than I care to admit, much help from many people and lots of joy & frustration, the car turned out better than expected.
I love turning wrenches, having done most of the mechanical work but left the body work, paint and interior to the professionals.
I owe a huge "Thank you" to the following people:
George Johnson - Collision, Customs & Rods in Columbus - Body work, paint and interior
Eddie Grant - Interior
Ted Brown - Brown EFI - Bolt-on TBI Fuel Injection Kit http://www.corvair.com/user-cgi/catalog ... ge=OTTO-31
Ray Fowler - Fowler's Alignment and Brakes - Brake Bleeding/Adjustment and 4 Wheel Alignment
ALL of my friends and fellow Corvair nuts on BOTH forums: Corvair Forum and Corvair Center
Judi Gemberling - My gorgeous, patient and incredibly supportive wife
Some of the features:
TBI Fuel Injection by Ted Brown
Custom Suede & Vinyl Interior
Modified Seats from a Dodge Neon
Custom Center Console w/Relocated Shifter & Double DIN Stereo
Speedhut "Revolution" Gauges w/GPS Speedometer
4 Wheel Disc Brakes
HD Springs at All Four Corners
17" Polished Aluminum Retro Wheels with Nexen HP Radials
Aztec Bronze Paint

Don't worry. With a sedan in the mix you're guaranteed to at least get second.Fast Eddie wrote:Wow...I didn't even realize my car was in the running. What an honor! However so far it looks more like Last Eddie.
