hi gang! i'm brand new to the site,so i just wanted to stop in and say hi. i've rebuilt and reversed hundreds of corvair steering boxes, so that is my main gig.
ther are two basic types of car boxes other than vans. they are aluminum or cast steel. the early style, 1960-1964 were aluminum. the steel ones started in mid 64 on to 69.
the hot rod crowd prefers the aluminum one, although the steel one can be chromed to look nice also.
foe the t bucket bunch that wants the pitman arm on the left for draglink steering, they reverse the input shaft by plugging up the original access hole for the steering input with a freeze plug and drlling a 5/8ths hole in the front lid/nut assembly.
its been my experience that the front and rear bearings usually need replaced. best regards, mikey

What are you paying for the boxes?
