Can anyone please confirm I am on the right track before I go ahead and order my rims
I want to go back to stock wheels on my 65 Corsa as I want to run original hubcaps.
I will swap back and forth depending on car shows with my existing 15 inch torque thrusts.
I will be getting some 13 inch rims made for my new 185 80 13 Maxxis tires and NOS 65 Corsa hub caps
I have read all the forums and I am thinking
Go 6 inch wide because I can.
Stay with stock 4 1/4" backspace and 1" positive offset so the extra 1/2" will be on the outside of the wheel?
Now for my question, Am I correct and Will this create any problems with rubbing on the fenders or bad handling by adding 1/2" out ward.
I am getting new wheels made because there are no second hand 13" chev wheels in my country( New Zealand)
So a local company will weld chev centres into 6 inch rims.
Thanks for any comments.

Original rims were 5.5" wide. Everything you ever wanted to know about Corvair rims is here http://autoxer.skiblack.com/tires.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Am I correct with 13 inch wheel size

13" tires are largely obsolete. Checking the Tire Rack website today shows that they only stock two tire brands in the size you stated — and they are both trailer tires and not suitable for passenger cars (Goodyear Marathon and Power King Towmax STR). Most tire manufacturers no longer produce 13" passenger car tires because they are obsolete. A few manufacturers continue to carry a limited range in this size to cater to classic car owners who require this size for show cars and competitions. The few tires that are still available in this size seldom inherit the latest developments in performance, handling, braking, and all-weather service, so the inventory is severely limited and high-priced.
My recommendation is to move up to 14" or greater rims. The range of tires available to fit larger rims is much-greater. Handling, breaking, and overall performance will often improve significantly when fitting a Corvair with modern tires, and for a car that is intended to be driven often on the street the improvement in handling and safety — and often the cost savings — is significant. Tire and wheel clearances on EM and LM Corvairs is easily handled with 14" or 15" rims with the proper sizing, backspacing, etc. The problem with 13" tire availability will continue to worsen over the years, as manufacturers abandon this size.
Tire and wheel sizing for Corvairs is discussed extensively in the following...

Re: Am I correct with 13 inch wheel offset
By the material I have read, the original Corvair wheels were negative 1" offset or -25mm, which is inboard. Read Brian Blackwells material that's at the top of the subforum here and it will give you the info you need.
