Source for hinge bolts
Source for hinge bolts
I have looked at Ebay Goodmarkindustries and Clark's so far, but the selection looks to be somehow limited. Is there a good source for hinge bolts of -61 Monza ? The old ones look terrible, when the paint is new and shiny.

Re: Source for hinge bolts
A description of what hinge and bolt specifically might be helpful as there are at least 9 hinges on every Corvair.

Re: Source for hinge bolts
Have you tried using a wire wheel and polishing wheel on them?you'd be surprised at the difference.

Re: Source for hinge bolts
I'd need door hinge bolts, between hinge and door, bolts for all hinges ot engine lid, and front lid between hinge and lid.
I may try to glass-bead blast them, and galvanize again, but some of the shank bolts (with phillips head) are damaged, and I am afraid, that I cannot fix them properly anymore.
Lazyness plays some role in this game tooo, and I can imagine how good new bolts would look...

These bolts are all painted body color which is helpful if they look a little poor. Clark's Corvair parts lists engine and trunk lid hinge bolts on the very bottom of page 175 in their catalog. The Phillips bolts in the doors are another story. A fairly suitable 5/16x18 machine screw can likely be found at a good hardware store. I see stainless and grade 3 listed on the internet. I would prefer a grade 8 if possible but with care I am sure these would work if necessary.
