So im gonna try this out with my 1961 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900.
After a full resto since September 2013 to May 2014 its finaly more or less ready, even tough im gonna keep updating the car as more money comes a long (been an expensive experience trying to restore this car in this short amount of time here in Norway)

I've started with a car that came to Norway as im, as of this date has tracked back to March 16 1966. The car was first registred on May 5 in 1961 but where i dont know (li think the US)

The car had a 2.3 but i got a hold of a 2.7 Liter 164 cid Turbocharged and planted that in the car.
I also took the rear end, transmission and swaybars front and back included the cross over leafspring, and Spyder instruments from a Spyder car that was badly rusted.

The body got smooted from all emblems, antenna and such to get the body as clean as i wanted it.
The front did recieve a heavy amount of hours getting smoothed and changed the apperence of.
I got a hold of NOS brake lights and Backup delete plates to top the rear end of.
The frontspoiler is from a 1969 Camaro and is painted shiny black.
Hoodpins is in billet from the company Hoodpins and has been brushed down the same way as all of the chrome with a red sanding wool from 3M.

The wheels and tires are 16x8 XXR wheels that is a modern take of the classic Minilite wheels.
The center got a spray of Gulf orange and the center caps were machined down to get rid of the logo.
Wheels are 205/40-16 but will in the near future be changed to road slicks in the same size for the look.

When it came to paint we went for all Standox products and the white color is from the 65 Shelby GT350, Wimbledon white, the orange is Gulf orange and the blue is a custom mix by me and my painter since we did not find any color we really felt flowed any good with the white and orange.

Interior wise i got a hold of a six point bar from a 1.gen Camaro and massaged that to fit into the Corvair.
Ashtray in the dash got welded shut to clean the apperence. a Spyder Turbo instrument went in and i made a delete plate for the radio, here i have mounted a modern Boost gauge with a classic look and some race switches that is used to get the car started and more (call it an Alarm for trying to steel the car).
I got a hold of a classic Hurst shifting boot for the now four speed handle and topped that of with a NOS shifter knob.
A shiftlight is mounted on the steering column, aluminium foot rest for the passenger, and a NOS roof light tops the interior.
The seats is for a mid 60s Opel Record but im not satisfied with these so they will also be swapped in the near future.
The sidepanels were cut and made out of aluminum and the steering wheel is an old ugly Grant steering wheel that got several hours of modifications. The only emblem on the car is the TurboCharged emblem on the horn button.

I have called the car the "What If Yenko" and made my version of what i think a Don Yenko tuned EM would have looked like with a few modern touches.

I cant take all the credit for this project, i need to also thank my good and dear friend Tom for the hours he helped me on this crazy project :tu:

I'm a GREAT fan of diversity, more then a lot of folks might like.
I'm planning on being in the Knoxville Pride Parade with the Spyder, sponsored by the LCCI.
I just don't think I could get more votes then the Yenko Clone! It's beautiful!

Skrain, don't give up. The month is only half over, well maybe a little more than half. Who knows what can happen, your Spyder is a winner. There are plenty of folks who like earlies over Late models, yellow over white, vert over coupe. Hang in there!

Gonna roll the dice one more time!!!

:tu: Glad to see you have decided to enter again. I believe your Corvair is certainly a great candidate for Corvair of the Month. Many COTM winners have entered several times before they finally prevailed. The competition this month, and in recent months, has been really tough. I'm glad to see that there are so many great Corvairs out there and that they are receiving such wonderful attention and creative, skilled workmanship by their owners.

Hang in there! :woo:
