Switching gears a little I decided to start some body work. When I first went to look at the car, I brought along a fridge magnet to check for body filler. There were some areas where the magnet didn't stick too good. So I knew there was some body filler. These are the areas I started to work on. I have seen some bad body work before but wow was I surprised at what I found. After finding the hack job someone did I decided I am going to strip the entire body down to bare metal, cut out the bad, fabricate/purchase patch panels weld them in.. I have included some pictures here for you all to see how bad something can be under the paint and body filler. Compare these pictures to the ones at the beginning of this post. As you will see in the pictures someone decided to just dent in the area around the rust and apply body filler right over the holes. Some places the body filler was splattered on very thick. On the rear quarter where the large hole is in the picture, there was a sponge shoved in there to hold the body filler in place until it hardened. There is a couple areas where they brazed in some metal, and they did bad job at that.
Decided to start a project page.

Re: Decided to start a project page.
I started to weld in new sheet metal this week. Started on the left front in front of the wheel with the inner fender. Cut out the rusted metal and built it back up with new metal and test fit the new outer fender lower from Clarks. It fits real nice and I will weld it in this weekend. After that I can replace the area beside this repair. Here are some pictures. A before picture and some after pictures.
