New to Corvairs

Hi this is Dave

I recently picked up a 65 Crown Converision. I helped a fellow GI in 1975 do the conversion on his Corvair and always wanted to do it again. I found it hard to get the parts nessary so I went looking for one completed, found this one about 6 months ago and this is about the most fun I've had with a car. I also own a 68 Firebird that I installed a 400 small block chevy and a 72 Corvette 350 4 speed. My first life was an A&P mechanic, now I love working on the old ones, something about that Corvair every time I take it out big smile ear to ear. Would love to hear from other crowns out there. I don't have a Crown, just a 64 Spyder, but I get the same feeling when I take mine out! it's always an attention getter, and draws many looks and smiles and thumbs up!

Great bunch of guys here and loads of info going around so you are definitely in the right place! I was a Blackhawk crewchief in the Army and I still own a 67 Firebird 400 so small world lol.

I owned a 65 convertible with a Crown conversion many years ago. Then I got a 69 coupe with a Kelmark conversion. Now I own two Toronado conversions. I'm slowly planning a more modern engine swap in the next year or so into either a spare LM sedan or a LM coupe that I have parked out back.
