64 leaf spring FC

Post by Jimbo »

Hello All, Anyone ever put the 64 leaf spring set-up on a 64 van? pros.? cons.? I know the swing arms are not set up for this but would it help? and what would it take to do so? I have the 64 diff. and the leaf spring and bolts, would need to get new bushins and such.
THANKS for any input on this. Jimbo :fc front:

I'm no expert on suspension, but I can't think of one good reason for doing it.

So I'll just ask, why?

The Forward Control Corvair trucks and vans are utility vehicles. I doubt that performance handling modifications that work well in passenger cars would be truly beneficial in a van or utility truck. A well-maintained suspension and a good set of modern tires are your best options for a truck or van.

Here are some Corvair FC websites that you may find useful...

I didn't read it properly and thought you were asking about putting a normal leaf spring suspension on, not the single transverse leaf that we have on the 64.

So a valid question, but because of the differences in sizes between the two for a start, I'd say it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Probably a good after market anti-roll bar would add as much help as the spring, and you can get them pretty much ready to fit.
