The Corvair was something special from the start, but by 1963, the car had really found its stride, as this 50-year-old dealer showroom brochure covering the entire Corvair model range illustrates. This 12-page brochure was one of a number of 1960s car brochures given to me by the mother of one of my good friends from school. I was visiting them recently when the literature came up as a topic of conversation; my friend’s uncle had collected them back in the day, and rather than dispose of them, was I interested? Heck yeah!
It’s a blast to see the great artwork (Can you imagine Chevy’s ad agency of today showing unbelted children standing up in the back of a convertible that’s driving along a cliff road? Don’t try this at home!) and to learn how the car could be personalized. Was the Corvair the last mass-produced American car available from the factory with wire wheels?
So I hope that you’ll enjoy this short stroll down memory lane, courtesy of Chevrolet’s 1963 Corvair.
