Exhaust extractors.
I have a pair of extractors I'm planning on installing on my 140. Anyone have them? Opinions? I'm replacing the tips, I'll post a pic soon. Using a polished stainless tip.

Re: Exhaust extractors.
Are you talking about those trombone looking things ?
I had a pair on my old Sprint. Make sure to support well or they will keep drooping no matter how tight you tighten the donut flange nuts.
Mine had the small tips. They looked too small but they seemed to work and sound ok on a basically stock 140.

Re: Exhaust extractors.
Pic below. I just got some stainless tips for them, cheap. Original tips are 2.5, replacements are 3 inch.
Plan is to sandblast, replace the tips, high temp black paint and install.

Re: Exhaust extractors.
I've used them. Mine had the larger diameter pipe so they were a little loud, but weren't that bad. As noted in an earlier post, you will need to devise hangers for them. I considered using them on my current project, but decided to go with duals with conventional u-pipes plus a crossover.

the BIG trombones! Those look really good. I may be using them on my 65 after the new motor goes in. Hopefully this month.

Re: Exhaust extractors.
I contacted Clarks last week about the large and small. They said the mufflers are the same, only difference is the tip. The size of the tip changes the tone, aka, louder with the larger tips.
I had the stock welded dual exhaust on the car for a while, too quiet.
I currently have duals with Dynomax Superturbos. Good sound, don't care for the hemroid look of the mufflers.
I have always wanted the extractors and thought I would give them a try. I can always go back to my current set-up. :)
I definately planned on some hangers. I almost stopped today to get a couple, decided to head home instead.

Will do! I'm hoping to get them blasted this afternoon if time permits. I don't think I'll be able to do it tomorrow, supposed to rain.

Re: Exhaust extractors.
I have clarks 140 U pipes with Dynomax Superturbos welded on along with one of my balance pipes. It sounds good, and I get complimented on it. I had two guys literally run over at a car show when I pulled in thinking I had a V-8 in it.
For some reason, I have always liked the looks of the extractors. I've heard the small tipped ones, have never heard the larg tip. If I don't like them, I can always take them off. :)

Re: Exhaust extractors.
Got them blasted. My oldest helped me paint them. Suited him up in a mask and gloves and let him have at it. Got some runs, he did pretty well.
Next is to cut the old tips off and put the new ones on. :)

Re: Exhaust extractors.
Got the new tips welded on today. :) The tips I got are Silverline stainless. 18 inch, 2.5 inlet, 3 inch outlet. I couldn't find any tips with the same demensions as the existing tips. So I went with the 2.5 inlet; I cut the old ones off leaving a couple inches in place to give me something to weld to. Over-all finished length is about the same. Came out pretty good, anxious to get them on and try them. Need to pick up some hangers soon too. :)

Re: Exhaust extractors.
Bolted them on quick this evening. I like the sound. MUCH queter than the superturbos. has a more european sound. I'll scrounge up some hangers tomorrow hopefully. :)
And.... Somehow, I got the tips on wrong... Equally wrong. I measured four times, verified with the tips I cut off. Had them marked and everything.... And they are both off equally. By the road rash on the bottom pipes, I know I got them on right. So, I'll either cut them off, or recut the slant on the tips. Probably the later.
I do like the sound tho.
