I have a 66. What color is the positive batt cable.. black or red

Usually the positive is red, but you do not know what people use when it is replaced. The negative cable should go to a post or bolt on the body or engine. The Positive goes forward through the sheet metal and on to the starter. Positive post on the battery is larger than the negative on a top post battery. Cables should properly fit on only one way.

I see that I did not express myself . What color was the positive cable as it came from the factory in 1966 ? Red or black ?

All the original early and late model Corvairs that I remember seeing had both cables black, First years of the early model had a woven non insulated ground strap. Also both cables had a spring clip not a bolt through on the post connector as I remember. Heck that was almost 50 years ago...

Also here is a link to a original 35 mile '69 that just has sold. It is black, I could not find any original engine bay photos of the '66
