My 1961 Lakewood 700. Just got her a few weeks ago from CA (I'm in MD). A true "barn find" with 106,000 on her, all original paint , no bondo ever, no rust, and amazing car. Her patina is so great (will NOT paint her), my daughter has dubbed her "Tina".

Re: Corvair of the Month February 2012
This is another vehicle from our Chevrolet orphanage (5 Corvairs and 3 Vegas). This 65 Monza Coupe started our madness for Corvairs. Wingnut and Me had just gotten married after being apart for 35 years. We had met each other in high school and became good friends through our love of cars, but eventually went our own ways in our 20s. When he found me on Facebook on 2010, he’d been unemployed for three years and no longer had any classics. He’d even signed over the family 54 Buick convertible to his son since he could barely afford the storage fees. I told him he could buy whatever classic (within monetary reason) he wanted for his 60th birthday. He’d always been intrigued by Corvairs and found this 65 Monza. Pretty much a barn find. Two brothers drove it to college in the 80s and then it was parked at their parents. 30+ years later, they pulled it out and decided to sell it. They got it running, but had not dealt with the affects of 30 years on brakes and fluid. We hauled it home and with a little work, it’s become a great car. I looks pretty much the way we got it, except Wingnut added the Oldsmobile Rally wheels (yes, the car still had the bias belted tires from 30 years ago).

Is it too soon?
1964 "Corvan" 95 8 Door Panel Van. As "barn find" as they come, I just drug it out of a desert field on Friday. Already got it running and a basic game plan to complete. It has the 4-speed tranny and currently on 14" steel wheels from a C10 truck. While it may not be anywhere near the show quality of the other entries (yet), I have a basic game plan for it outlined in the intro thread.
Vote for me!?!?!?!?!?

Yes, it's too late to enter for February. But you can enter ir next month. And I know the 8 doors are rare but I don't think I've ever seen and eight door panel? That's cool.

Re: Corvair of the Month February 2012
I seem to have missed the part about the 15th... Such a shame I didn't happen across this gem until the 17th.
I will be sure to get updated pics of the progress and enter next month. I think it would help to have pics of it with air in all the tires.

Re: Corvair of the Month February 2012
Hang in there CorvairCrazy, your car is beautiful and a turbo convertible to boot!... bright red cars just don't seem to do all that well on the Corvair of the Month..... I think it is just that it's such a common/popular color choice especially for late models.Corvair.crazy wrote:Okay this will mark the fourth or fifth time I entered. My 66' Corsa coupe is bright red and I love it, red just doesn't stand out in a sea of beautiful Corvairs.

CORVAIR.CRAZY How I know the feeling as we all do. Yeah , I have to agree with Grymm's , you need to feel that loving this month. We had hard choices to make and they are tough ! I only think your wife talked you off the ledge of the smimming pool (yes it had water) is because you still had your wallet and remote starter in your pants pockets. If it was me , I may have let you gotten wet My time was last month on my two year anniversary, today is presidents day birthday , this is your month HAPPY BIRTHDAY from Crazy George Giving it to ya buddy , Good luck

WOW Read one thing and wrote another, so it was Miller who noticed the love and not Grymm's. Wouldn't be the first time At lease I corrected that mistake CG
