How difficult is the rear window to aquire for a 4-door?
Re: 65 4-door "sports car" project
No sure, Greg. I should've asked the glass guy while he was there putting the chrome trim back on. The front window is new but I was curious about the rear's availability, too. Just in case.

The tint is photoshopped in. I like it.

I'll say it again, that thing is BAD ASS!
BTW, I like the tint too. Adds a certain "sinister" aspect to compliment the dark paint.

I cut 1.5 coils out the rear. Easy job, took about an hour per side.
Sunday I installed the front lid weatherstrip (engine lid last week) and today it's pouring rain that's supposed to continue most of the week. Good timing!

Get the tint for real. Seriously adds to the badassness of this ride.

GREAT work! Two questions,
1: How did you get the paint to "stick" to the chrome bumpers and door handles?
2: What size are the BMW wheels and tires?
I am working on two cars right now, 68 Monza Coupe; 140, 4spd, and a 65 Corsa Convertible 140, 4spd but your Sport Sedan....really cool!
Hummm If I could find a "Rust free" driver for my next project?????
Is the interior is next? Keep up the good work and keep us posted

Re: 65 4-door "sports car" project
Hi, thanks. The bumpers were prepped the normal way: 80 grit, do bodywork, prime, and shoot. The handles were simply scuffed and primed. I thought the paint would quickly wear around the button but so far it's holding up. These handles are used in many Chevy cars so I wasn't afraid of experimenting. The bumpers were already chipped, bent, and rusted.
The wheels are 17x8 and the tires are 225/45 front, 255/40 rear.
Interior is just gonna get cleaned up, maybe a new carpet some day.

Re: 65 4-door "sports car" project
Had something interesting happen last week. The car started idling rough and popping when revved, even in neutral. I popped the distributor cap to check the points and the rotor was wobbly, I thought maybe I knocked it off when pulling the cap? But looking closely there is a groove inside the rotor which I would think mates with the distributor shaft. The rotor didn't sit all the way down and there were impact marks near each terminal inside the cap. I ended up having to Dremel the groove inside the rotor out until it sat flush with the shaft. At one point I tried to pry the shaft open at the notch and saw that my screwdriver matched the nicks and dents already on there, as if it was tried before.
Now the rotor sits nice and tight and the car is running great again. Kind of strange the rotor wouldn't sit flush and took two years for it to pop off like that. But then I only put 100 miles on it since September.
