Post by Gigharborvair »

I finally own an Evening Orchid ‘65 Corsa Turbo Convertible. I’m curious how many others members know of. Please let me know if you know of one. Thanks

Had one in 1974. A 1965 Corsa convertible, originally Evening Orchid, but had been repainted a burnt copper color. Came with white interior. Had black top that had probably been replaced.

Evening Orchid was a one year only / 1965 color on Corvairs. My '65 coupe was originally that color. It needed a total repaint but I just couldn't bring myself to do such a feminine color on such a hairy chested sports car such as what the turbo 4 speed coupe really was / is. It is now black with a red pinstripe at the belt line.

Oh, I almost completely forgot. Two weeks ago, on my way home from work, I saw an EO convertible w/ white top headed the other direction. Pretty sure it was a Monza, but things happened fast. It's rare to see Corvairs around here, but I'm finding out that they are around.

Back in 1965 I saw a brand new Impala in Evening Orchid and thought "What a great color, but no guy would be caught driving a car that color!". Well times have changed. I was at a car show with some buddies and we saw a 1965 Chevelle convertible in Evening Orchid with the white/black interior. Every one of the "guys" thought evening orchid was a great color. No negative comments. With all the wild colors the custom/hot rod community has embraced, most now are not concerned about a color being "feminine". In the 60's Cadillac and the Thunderbird had colors called "Dusty Rose" that were basically metallic pink and now I see it on cars driven by "guys".
