Final (Hopefully) Wheel Questions
Re: Final (Hopefully) Wheel Questions
I believe the Datsun allow wheels of that era can be retained with either 60-degree tapered seat lug nuts or shank type lug nuts with washers. They have flats for the washers as well as the 60 degree countersink. The original lug nuts were 12mm RH, and The Corvair studs needs the 7/16" x 20 RH nuts. I suggest using centering rings in either case. When you do the final installation, make sure you have long enough studs to promote full thread engagement. You will probably use closed-end lug nuts so make sure the nuts are deep enough to bottom on the wheel, before the stud bottoms out inside the lug nut. But, with stock studs, that is unlikely to be an issue. Enjoy

Update...
To start with I got laid-off from the company I've been working for. 14 years of fuel hauling, Top Dog on the ladder. Then they got greedy and lost a bunch of contracts. Then had to cut payroll and yours truly with the most experience and highest pay got handed his last check and nothing else.
I'm not looking for any sympathy from you all but my spending has come to a quick halt! So I have not bought tires for the car. But I know what I will get so that's on the back burner for now. Going to go with 205/60/15 in rear and 195/60/15 in front. At least that's the plan for now. I was going to see if I can squeeze anything bigger in the rear but for now I will just have to wait.
I bought the lug nuts, washers, Center Caps, Rims and Eccentric Rings. I had to chuck up the Eccentric Rings on my wood lathe and open them up 0.020 as they wouldn't go over the hubs. But having a lathe made that an easy thing to do without messing them up. Easier than sending them back and waiting for a refund or trade to another size. I also had to order a second set of Washers as the Cragar Style Lug Nuts would bottom out on the lip of the Rim. After putting 2 washers on a Lug Nut I still have 9 full turns so I feel safe that I have enough threads engaged.
Here is the Rim bolted on with the Rings, Caps and Lug nuts. I did order the stickers for the Center Caps. 20 bucks I think I can afford for a last splurge. I think it will look good when I get a chance to buy tires. I was thinking of painting the lines in the rims to match the car but maybe another time. BTW, they are 15" Datsun 280Z Turbo Swastika Rims.

Re: Balancing 13 inch Factory KH wire wheels
I have bought at auction. A new to me 1964 Spyder convertible show car. Backup lights don't work: have ordered kit from Clark's. Front wheels were balanced but rears not! Anybody have a shop in East Tn to balance the rears? 185/70R/T85.
Re: Final (Hopefully) Wheel Questions
Starting your own thread would be a better way to go about asking but...
Any tire shop can balance tires. I bet even the smallest city in TN would have a tire store with a balancer. Its not like its done on the car.
