miniman82's build, by TLC Restorations
Re: miniman82's build, by TLC Restorations
That's a pretty cool transformation.
It reminds me of my Sprint resto or my old 67.
What color are you gonna use ?

You're gonna think I'm deft, but I'm leaning towards some ilk of white with a British Racing Green stripe down the driver's side of the car. The stripe would come up the hood, end at the windshield, then start again at the decklid. Or maybe I'll make the body green, with white stripes? Either way, it'll look killer.

I like white , it can look classy when done right. Just don't use a "Refridgerater White" like on my Toyota. It is Toooo white.
One of my sharpest looking paint jobs was on a 240Z that was white laquer with with gold accents and gold rear window louvers.
I also am a fan of BR Green and of racing stripes.
I've toyed with the thought of putting stripes on my car several times and I would have left them off the roof too. Also toyed with off setting off to the drivers side like many cars back in the 60s. But for now - I'm Stripe-less
I was gonna mention reversing the colors too . A white with a bit of creme in it would look sharp as a stripe on dark green.

Yeah, I hear ya. Unless someone comes up with something that blows me away I'm pretty set on the green/white combo, which way I go with the colors though is still up in the air.

Nick, thanks for posting the pics, I was wondering how things were going. They went to all that work to strip the car but they did not unbolt your regulator????
Looking good!

They can't blast that part of the car anyway, so no point taking it off right now. Bob told me they can't sand blast flat parts, because the heat would warp the panels. The doors, engine compartment, some of the trunk and the interior are being done by hand for the most part. Last time I was there they had hand stripped the doors down to bare metal with a disc sander (3 different layers of paint plus primer!), and were getting minor dents out. There was also a strange pattern of little dings on the left rear quarter, and neither of us could figure out why they were there. It doesn't look to me like any sheet metal was ever replaced on the car, and it doesn't look it was was hit either. You could only see it from the inside of the engine bay, it was covered up by bondo on the outside. It's almost as if someone got mad at the car, and took the pointy end of a rock hammer to it. Strange.

White and green huh Nick? What shade of green? I'll be honest, I don't like most shades of green on cars. The wrong shade looks like crap, but the right shade of green looks SWEET!

British racing green, like the Mini's use. You guys think it would look better with a green body like the Mini below, or white with a green stripe?
My Mini is some Italian ilk of red though.

British racing green is the only green that should be on a car IMO.
hmmm? tough choice on the green w/ white strip or white w/ green stripe?

Yes, that is my current dilemma.
Right now, I'm leaning towards the green body with white stripe(s). Bob Sr was the one who suggested a single large stripe down the driver's side of the car; up the hood, then stopping and picking up again on the decklid. Dammit Kevin, you do all those videos and such, ain't you got that Photoshop thing to make stuff look like I want it? Hook a bruddah up!

What about the BR Green and somewhere between a light to med cream color. Visualy the cream gives a bit off a vintage or classy look.
Love those Delswift mirrors on the green mini, I had one I had intended to find a match for and put on my bug, but found some repro fender mount mirrors at Moon for cheap, and the Delswift funded them plus a few other small things. I love accessorys, can't wait to get my swivel wheel trailer rolling!

BRG with no stripe is my opinion.
Either way though the car is going to be damned cool!
