4bbl carb on 140 engine

Post by 65 Corsa »

I have a 65 Corsa in the process of refurbishing. It has a 140 engine that needs rebuilding. I’m not a fan of the original 4-1 bbl carb setup. I was thinking of buying the intake kit that sets up the use of a single Holley 350 spread bore. Has anyone done this or know anyone that has done this and what were the results?

Many repeat old wives tales about it, without ever having used one.
Fact is, I have used one and found no problems with it.
I have even run them in sub-freezing temperatures and did not experience the icing problems that some claim to have.
It is not uncommon for frost to form on the outside of the runner, and that may be where some people get the idea that the four-barrel set-up has icing problems, but it does not affect the operation of the engine.

I ran a Holley 390 for years with ISKY 270 cam and headers. The car ran great after getting it dialed in. Low end is better with the stock setup, but you gain power in the mid and upper RPM range.
