Body Tag Paint Code '61 Lakewood

Post by NTK4 »

Looking at a body tag on a '61 Lakewood, it indicates the paint code as 917-7. 917 is Seamist Turquoise. What is the "-7" for? Thanks in advance for the answers.

Although if you had a 60 I would say if it looks like original paint and differs from what they're saying ignore it and continue to do your own research lol as the statement the interior matched the exterior is bunk at least for Monza 900 Coupes in 60. I have a Crocus Cream 60 with a Jade interior and its original paint, according to the Body Tag trim is 882 which is Met Med Green, and it has 926 for the outside body. Fun stuff these paint jobs especially for early models.

Interior: The 1962-63 Corvairs have an extra digit on the trim or paint section of the tag. WRN has the extra digit for interior paint on the Paint section. Ex. 922-7 = Red with black interior paint
Interior paint codes: (Interior paint codes do not appear on Los Angeles built cars)
1962: 2= Blue 3= Aqua 4= Fawn 5= Red 7= Black 8= Saddle 9= Gold
1963: 2= Blue 3= Aqua 4= Fawn 5= Red 7= Black 8= Saddle R = White/Red.
1964: A= Aqua B= Blue C= Saddle D= Red E= Black F= Fawn Q= White/Red

 :dontknow: I would guess that this extra digit on the PAINT line also was apparently found in 1961. This would seem to indicate a Seamist Turquoise exterior with a Black interior.
