LM's are my fave but if it wasn't for the EMs we wouldn't have the LM's (HMMMMM tough call!) :chevy:

My life with Corvairs started in 1965 when I was a high school senior. I was every bit a car guy, although nobody called it that then, having worked on cars from an early age, building motorbikes out of reel type lawnmower engines etc. I have no memory of ever even seeing an early model which is just ridiculous because obviously they were everywhere. I guess I just never paid any attention to them and didn't know anyone who had one.
One of my older brothers bought a 65 and then my folks bought a 65 so I drove them alot and when it came time for me to own, it was an affordable car that I was , by then, very familiar with. Didn't need to work on one. Too new back then.

Looking back , there are some EM's that I do like. The 95Ramspide and 61 or 62 Lakewood wagon. The EM design was in keeping generally with other GM cars and that was also true of the LM's as well. But the design , handling characteristics especially with radials on, HP options, technical improvements make it my favorite and I still consider the coupe and convertible one of the beautiful cars ever designed.

perhaps the final word on this matter :-P

Since I've had both the early and late coupes, any time I have both of them together in the same place (cruise-ins etc., even my driveway) everyone consistently tells me how much better they like the late style. The one that really surprised me was my father... at 84 y/o and with a strong preference for 30's and 40's cars I thought sure he'd appreciate the early more... but I was wrong, he said he likes the looks of the late much better!

Nobody has once yet told me they prefer the early body style... admittedly my late is the nicer car, and the bright red paint helps it stand out better than the white on the early.

When I had my 61 in high school, all the girls thought it was 'cute'. Some of the guys would laugh, or make comments. I would ask them who's opinion I thought mattered. Theirs, or all the girls who though it was 'cute' and wanted a ride. :cool:

This raises yet another point in favor of the late models..... more room in the back seat!!! :evil:

I have a EM but i definatly like the look of the LM more, even the dash

What is more room going to accomplish if they don't think it's 'cute'? More room for solo activities?? :rolling:

I too have a liking to the late model body style. I don't care for the interior though. I prefer the look of the EM'S dash and interior scheme. I guess I like both about the same. I would never give up my 61 and can't wait to acquire a late model Corsa to compliment it. I will always have a sweet spot for the EM'S though. Done up right they have really nice lines and a look that gets people everywhere going " cool car"..........

Yeah I had to vote for EM and LM... got my 62 about 3 weeks back... :)
