Good thing I know you're kidding Dave!!

EV's are a passing fad...too expensive.

The true cost in gas is $17 per gallon.

After donating my racecar to CPF Museum I decided to retire from Landspeed.

Building a V8 car keeps me closer to home and here for my wife's health issues.

Plus out of all the choices we or I have Landspeed is by far the most expensive.

That's an ADE transaxle and we (Arch and I) will be putting it in the SuperVair subframe I have.

Right now (only gathering parts until after 2025 convention) plan is C4 hubs with C5 CV axles.

I have a 1968 Z28 Camaro 302 cube SBC V8 located and waiting to save up some bucks to buy.

The suspension mock up picture was the original SuperVair set up with stock Corvair rear hubs.

$17.00 a gallon equivalent is playing a game of numbers and hardly valid. Of course if you count the ICE engine and drivetrain cost and add it to the cost of gasoline you'd get the same silly numbers. Any car costs more per mile than just the cost of fuel.

Yes EV hype put the demand ahead of infrastructure, but like all things it will come down to the least expensive car to buy and operate in a decade and the EV will be part of the mix. However that does not mean the ICE engine is going away. For the next decade or two the hybrid will be the car of choice. Folks beat up Toyota for prioritizing the hybrid over the EV and now it seem Toyota was CORRECT. Automakers are scrambling to bring out plug-in hybrids that offer excellent mileage, no charging anxiety, good performance, lower emissions. BTW check out the Corvette E-Ray hybrid. Impressive by any measure

A buddy bought a Ford hybrid a few years ago when NOBODY wanted them for a bargain. His electric cost (he's has a PhD and knows his numbers) is about half what it would cost him to burn gasoline. His range gets him to work and back on electric, he plugs it in to a 110VAC outlet at night. Easy Peasy. He only fills the tank twice a year. Car runs fine, no complaints in years of use and the battery is still under warranty.

There is a lot of work to get long haul trucks to run on cleaner fuels and at a LOWER cost. It was pie in the sky two years ago, but now it is looking realistic. Not happening this year, but if the costs are lower it will happen! So the ICE engine may be around longer that thought, but most likely in a hybrid powertrain.

We may be able to run Corvairs on a cleaner fuel in the future instead of converting them to electric.
