Definitely interesting, but I suspect the cost would be far more than folks would pay considering the many other practical alternatives.

Reminds of the "water cooled Corvair heads" project. Very interesting and of course Porsche successfully did it to their engines. A lot of interest on Corvair forums, then as the information on the cost started to come out, interest dropped off fast.

I applaud creative projects, especially if you want to spend the money for something different, but they usually are not profitable ventures.

Yes, custom billet cranks cost more than Chevrolet's production six cylinder cranks.

Interesting Motor Trend article. Seems the gentlemen honed their skills in small companies, but learned the real engineering money is doing well at a large corporation. I went the same route, no regrets. The "youngsters" fresh out of college would whine about be "stiffled" by the corporate structure. I'd get tired of the whining and would say "Yeah why do we come here anyway. Oh! I remember, it's that big pay check I get".

I've only seen two engines with the "ARDUN" heads. Impressive and I do like the old Ford flathead V8, but the small block Chevrolet (SBC) engine made it, and the hot rod versions, obsolete quickly. FACT: Ford management was very confident the SBC was such a "flimsy" engine it would be a costly failure for General Motors.

After WWII Ford was seriously considering dropping the flathead V8 and only selling their new OHC six since Chevrolet only offered an OHC six. BTW the Ford OHC six was a better engine vs. the old "stovebolt" Chevy six. Ford was unaware Chevrolet had O.K.'d the development of the SBC.

Just when I thought internal combustion engine development was leveling off, Stellantis/Chrysler just released information about a new 500HP 3 Litre inline 6!!! The software is a beautiful work of art.


You will notice, that the bank angles are +/- 40 degrees.
My error is an overlooked detail, as I started the cad model with a 12 cylinder, an emulation of the Life F1 W-12.
Which complicates the reworking of the model in Rhino, slightly.
