The owners manual on my 65 Corsa with 4 speed says that it should not be towed at more than 50 MPH. Has anyone had any experience with towing these cars?
Thanks, Pete

Re: flat towing
Automatic or manual? Rule of thumb for older automatics was <50. Less than 50 miles and less than 50 miles per hour. Manual trans shouldn't matter as much, but take into consideration that there were a lot LESS vehicles on the road back then and people were a lot more considerate. We drug them all over town with a chain, not recommended and probably not legal today. Dennis
Re: flat towing
Back in 1981 this poor college student towed my 1967 Monza 4-speed 500 miles home through the mountains of Virginia. Terrifying, I had never done that. Rented a tow bar that clamped to a bumper on each end. Wasn't CERTAIN how strong either bumper was. I drove 55 mph the whole way. Worked out fine by the grace of God.
