EM rear grill
I fabricated this grill for my 62 since the original was destroyed. I also posted this on a FB group. One individual said it looked like it wouldn’t provide enough cooling. Do you know how much cooling the stock grill actually provides? I have asked in several forums and no response. Did some math before I built it. Stock grill provides approximately 56”2 of open space. My grill provides approximately 43”2. Big difference is when the stock grill is stamped, it produces several sq in of concave surface the outflowing air needs to overcome. That creates a lot of turbulence or burble. My grill is smoother and should produce some lift to help overcome the reduced open area. Perhaps I am overthinking this?. Would really appreciate some feedback on this. I guess if it is an issue and I want to keep this design, one could place a downward diverted on the cowl. Thoughts?

If you had the engine in the car you could get one of those cheap infrared thermometers and see if there is a difference in temp between the old grill and your new one. I am impressed with your fabrication skills. I like mild custom touches like that. If you could keep the price reasonable you could probably sell them. How did you cut out the bow tie and holes? Do you have access to a laser cutter? Keep us updated and good luck!

Thanks! I would love to have a cnc plasma table but I hand cut everything. I used a cutoff wheel in a die grinder for the bow tie and 2” hole saw in the drill press for the holes. I’m thinking it will be just fine.
