Starting of engine removed

Hi could anyone advise on how to bench start showing electrical connections and a basic diagram . (Child’s )

It’s a 110 with Powerglide

I don't have time to make a diagram.

For the starter, you need a heavy ground cable from the engine (or starter) to the battery. A heavy positive cable from the battery to the starter main power lug and then a one small wire that can supply 12 volts to the "S" terminal on the starter solenoid which will thus activate the solenoid and starter.

For the engine electrical, you only need to connect a wire from the battery positive post to the coil "+" terminal. That is all the electrical you need to run for a short period of time. For longer duration running, you should use a ballast resistor to feed the coil since feeding it with full 12 volts for too long could cause it to overheat.

When test stand running of an engine I use a 1.8 ohm ceramic housed ballast resistor to supply the coil.

NOTE: Ceramic ballast resistors are made in several different resistance values so make sure you use a 1.8 ohm.

I use my test stand engine quite often to evaluate stuff I'm working on so I have it set up a little more permanently. I used part of an OEM harness which still has the resistance wire hidden inside the harness where you don't see it.

Hi been a while , my engine back together. I was going to install yesterday but found the trans mounts and engine mount crumbling, so replacement needed . I did bench start the engine all seems great .
