Future of the corvair clubs and younger members - POLL
I have been in and around CORSA and DACC most of my life, and haven't really ever been in to the whole club thing. When I have gone to events I haven't seen to many new younger members. I know I am guilty of not being involved myself, but I was wondering how many younger members are out there. I guess I would consider younger as someone that was not old enough to have every seen a corvair in a dealership, born 1970 or later.

I'm 24 and just got my first Corvair a week ago, but I'm hooked already. I've literally spent every spare daylight hour I've had so far out wrenching on it. :)

Dang I'm almost out of the 20-29 bracket.... I bought a 68' 500, 66' Corsa, and 66' Corsa Vert when I was 17 for $1,000. The Corsa was a train wreck. I parted it out and junked the rest. The previous owner's daughter had introduced it to a tractor trailer bumper, guard rail, another vehicle from behind, and who knows what else.... poor car.
The Corsa Vert went to my buddy Joe at the time as we made a deal. He taught me how to work on the cars and let me use his garage, tools, knowledge, effort, muscle, etc. whilst we got the 68' 500 going. He got to keep the vert. That car had been totally gutted by the previous owner. No motor or anything. I don't think it even had the a-arms or swing arms on the suspension. Joe said it was rare though and I think he was going to re build it....
The 68' 500 became my first corvair and is still featured in my garage videos and pics as the "Blue Car"
2nd Corvair came from forum member Michael Barney. A jaw-dropping 66' Corsa in Chateau Silver.... drool.

im going to be 28 this year. i thought i was the only "young" person who was into corvairs. all my friends have mustangs and carmeos. i bought my first one 3 years ago. i got into a car wreck and lost my 90 supra turbo. all my friends told me to buy a 60's carmeo, but i have wanted a corvair sents i was 13. now i got 2.
Why have a corvette when you can have a corvair.

In 1962 when I was six years old, my Dad brought home the new car. It was a Black 1962 Monza Wagon with red bucket seats and positraction. Somewhere around 1969 he sold it and I was crushed, I really wanted that car. (I did get it back years later then eventually sold it).
My first Corvair was a 1963 500 Coupe w/automatic that cost me $25.00 back in 1973. I fixed it up and sold it for $125.00 which I used to buy a 1965 Corsa 140 Convertible. Since then I have had an assortment of Corvairs including Early, Late, Coupe, Wagon, Greenbriar, and Convertibles. One was a LM Coupe, Kelmark Mid Engine car that I had for 16 yeas.
I sold the last of my Corvair stuff at the turn of the century (2000) then turned around a few years later and bought the one I currently have, a 1965 Monza Coupe. I may be in my mid fifties and female but cars are a way of life for me, I am after all a Caraholic4life.

Great stories from everyone!
I am 39. Since I learned about corvairs I have been interested in them (I like something different). My first test drive at a used car dealer about 20 years ago set the hook.
I will be purchasing my first one after my daily driver is paid for (2 years or less i hope).

I am just glad it was NOT the Corvair that got crushed!

No wonder I can't get Corvair owners to come around to modern technology, you old fogies (40-49 bracket) wouldn't know how to use it! lol

Old fogies at 40 -- what does that make us 50-59 year olds ?
Here's some modern tech

Very interesting. Corvair in it's many various forms should have a lot of appeal to young folks if for no other reason than it's afforable and can be made to go f a s t >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>But they need to be exposed.
So that's why as a Corsa chapter membership chair , I'll be out at every public showing I can find this season . I plan to promote using every means I can find that I can use on site. I was happy to see from this poll anyway that the biggest age group was 40-49 so maybe we can at least keep it going for another 30 years.

Bah! If I was one year younger I'd tip the scales down instead of up! (30 y/o). I'm always trying to get younger folks interested in vairs' but most want big v-8's or modern imports. Many show interest until they find out it doesn't sport a 400hp engine =(.
I do have one (26 y/o) friend who is interested and loves the look of the late models, now if only I can get him to BUY one.
