Confused by 1962 chrome trim.

Post by coressca@gmail.com »

1962 Corvair
1962 Corvair
It was a surprise to find that my grandfather left me this Corvair. I have not gone to retrieve it yet but was just sent this picture. I searched the 1962 Corvairs but I don't see any with the horizontal chrome at the end of the hood and sides. I hope that you enthusiasts can explain what this model is that has this trim.

Thanks,

The belt line trim was on the 700 models. Most cars you see are likely Monzas that did not have the trim, or cars that the trim (hard to find in nice condition) has been eliminated. Nice looking car. Is it 2 door or 4 door?

I'll see it on Saturday. I will take more pics and provide Vin and door plate numbers. I don't expect to keep it.

Although it stops halfway back on the front doors, my 62 Monza wagon has this beltline trim.

The 62 700 wagon I restored had the same.

If your main purpose for joining the forum was to flip your grandfather's car I would suggest a different route. Those on this forum are enthusiastic about our cars and haven't joined solely to get an idea of value.
With that said, your grandfather's car looks to be in nice shape and you will find an interested buyer whether it's a coupe, sedan or wagon.

Here is a picture of a 1962 Corvair 700 coupe that displays that beltline trim you asked about...

Here is a video of a 1961 Corvair 700 Lakewood Station Wagon that clearly shows the beltline trim close up...

I came to ask the question that I asked. If I wanted to "flip" the car I would be asking value questions. I did not ask those questions. You should not second guess or insinuate by inferring that I am on the forum to sell. I don't expect to keep it because I do not have room for it. I have no plan today, just trying to understand what the car is.

I apologize, the above sounds like your selling the car.
