Convertible top

I have a 65 convertible and it needs a new top, how hard is it to.replace, I'm wondering if i could do.it?i.worked in auto body repair for 38 years but i have never replaced a convertible top

It is a huge job. Plenty of people do it. I did one ages ago with the help of an upholsterer friend and it took 26 man hours. (13 each) Neither one of us had done one before.

a lot of time and expense and if not done properly it will look poor maybe and not last. I did one, one time. It was a pain. it came out well, but, I let a professional top shop with old car experience do them now. They come out better.

Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.
Currently working full time repairing Corvairs and restoring old cars.

The PO installed the top on my 66. He is a highly experienced Corvair restorer (he was the regional Corvair Guru). Looks nice, but, he too said it was a royal pain!!!
