Thought I'd start a thread labeled my other classic car....
So here goes. My other cool car is a cobra replica 1965 factory five. My son kevin and I built it over an 8 year period. I did a lot of the mechanical work and he did the body and paint. When its sunny and no rain I can drive it. Ruby red w flat black stripes.

She is beautiful ! Always amazing how some have the patience to build a car like this over such a long period of time ! But the end result shows its worth it I guess.

In the late 1950's and 1960's, I grew up with Corvairs (1961 Monza and 1965 Corsa), and this...

Brad with Dad's 1958 AC "Mongoose". All aluminum body with tubular frame, the British-made AC Ace was the basis for the Ford-powered 289 CI Shelby Cobra, built by Carroll Shelby. Dad's home-built custom utilized a 327 CI Corvette engine with solid lifters, Borg and Beck clutch, Muncie T10 transmission with modified Hurst shifter, Italian Borrani wire wheels (rear only) Goodyear Blue Streak tires, and custom hand-rubbed lacquer paint. Unlike the Shelby Cobra, this car retained oversized, finned aluminum drum brakes on all four wheels. Standard AC differential was retained. The car weighed about 2000 pounds with a full tank and did very well at local autocross events.

The AC before the Corvette engine conversion, with the original AC aluminum block inline SOHC six cylinder engine with British SU carburetors...

Thats cool that your dad had the mongoose. In my mid 20s i was stationed in pearl harbor there was a sunblem alpice that i thought was vert nice. So i got out and bought me a sunbeam alpine 1725 and loved it. About 4 years later i found a tiger 260 that turned into my daily driver for a out 4 years.

A little more about my Cobra...
I learned a lot about handling and creature comforts when i had the Tiger. Very tough steering at parking lot speeds. So i have ps, pb, and hydralic clutch. I had an engine builder put together a stroked 302 (331) carburated, its about 400 hp and a tremed tko600 trannsmission, the irs rear suspension and wilwood disks. Lots of fun to drive and i get a lot of thumbs up.
