Boyne Turn Signal Switch 67-69

Corvair Kid posted an excellent article detailing two different turn signal switches in 67-69 cars at http://www.corvairkid.com/67-9signal.htm . My '67 has the "Boyne" switch (vs the Delco switch). Clark's price is $85. After some surfing I found a $13 sub-assembly on a Firebird site which may be all I or someone else needs to repair a Boyne switch. https://www.firebirdcentral.com/Product ... Turns out Clarks actually sells that part too.

It's been a while since I ordered from Clark's. Mostly good prices but their shipping costs are ridiculous. Are they unaware of flat-rate shipping boxes?

Their estimated shipping is usually high but they charge actual shipping. They will use flat rate boxes if they cost less. My shipping from them seems to always be less than estimated and they are very good at packing things in tiny boxes.

My Ebay repair part arrived yesterday so I installed it this morning. Pretty straightforward, just had to clip and solder two wires. I didn't remove the wiring harness, there was plenty of cable to slide up the steering column cover to gain room to work. Obviously care is required to work with brittle old wires. The only bad thing about the part was that both wires are red, even though polarity is critical! Same on all the replacement parts I have seen. I took plenty of reference photos during R&R, I'm attaching some here for reference. Nice to finally have latching turn signals for the first time since I bought the car in 1980. :)

Edit: Anyone wishing to do this (especially working in the car, as I did) should be careful not to lose two flat metal springs (red arrows, last pic) which are loose and can fall out. Looks like a single spring but it is in fact two back to back.

Autozone is cheaper than Rockauto. I've never seen that on the same part.
The Dorman part has a lifetime warranty too!
Does anyone know where to find a real Dorman catalog? You can only look up by application on their site which doesn't work for parts like this.
I need a horn contact ring for my '66 Malibu. Hopefully I have enough Corvairs to be allowed a couple of other cars without getting into too much trouble here.

I agree, Dorman's website is kinda useless. You know they have what you want, but you can't find it.

It doesn't help that various places use inconsistent terminology. Clarks doesn't use "turn signal", can't search it. Only "directional signal".

Autozone calls this part a cam. Clarks calls it a canceling plate. Clarks calls the canceling cam the more cylindrical part with the brass horn ring and post which rotates with the steering wheel to hit and release their cancelling plate.

Apparently only Corvair and Corvette use this particular part, so they charge Corvette prices.

I think that is the one I need for my Malibu. I was hoping to not pay $30+ either. Dorman probably makes it but I can't figure out how to find it. I bought the latching part from Clark's for my Malibu. It had the GM part number on it and I searched for it on their site. It was the same as one of the telescopic Corvair columns.
I'm with you on the warranty. I would rather buy a part that will last but I haven't figured out how to do that. I bought a front wheel bearing from Napa for my Buick because I hoped it was a better part. It lasted about 2 years and only had a 1 year warranty. I bought a window regulator for the same car from Napa and it lasted about a year but it had a lifetime warranty so at least I didn't have to buy another one.
I have been buying batteries from them and now some are over 6 years old and no failures yet.
