Have you checked all bulbs and connections including reays, are correct way round, Ive had experience before when a bulb , even with offset tangs was fitted wrong way and it gave real headache till I foundi it , sometimes the live can run through ground and not burn out but cause havoc especially when some items are ground switched (horn?) and others are live switched (lights) Electrics defy all logic in my opinion, remenber that electricity ,like water, will always take the easiest route and work from there

we went through all the plugs and grounds yesterday.... "looks good" was the result

IT LIVES!!! We got it to run last night and drove it around the parking lot.

It still idles at just around 2,000 rpm (per dash tach) but it really ran great for not having the carbs tuned, balanced, adjusted or the linkage tightened, adjusted, and the fact that I loosened up the shaft supports to build it up with stabilizer blocks.

So I'm just starting to work on the carbs. I wanted to see how my new tool (the Unisyn) worked and put it on....

Well then I put my hand on the carb throats and the following occurs:\

Right side (passenger) - Sucks down my palm HARD and almost kills the car.
Left side (driver) - Almost can't feel any suction at all...... nothing happens when I cover it.

I did the cold valve train adjustment job to the T on the video that Kevin suggested to me and has uploaded on his YouTube channel.

So here's my question.... Why does the driver side not pop as hard as the passenger and heats up so much slower than the other?

Note: I have yet to fully adjust and balance the carbs. Also the plugs are ~10 years old but probably only 100 miles on those plugs.

The first video is cold started... I literally had just finished putting the valve cover on and started it after sitting in 11°F weather for about 2 hours.

The second video (as I mention in the commentary) is after idling for about 20 minutes then roaring around the block setting off car alarms :)

Hi Ted. Thanks for the insight. I just pulled, bathed, cleaned and rebuilt both carbs so hopefully I'll have that issue tucked away soon enough. Kevin said I need to adjust the valves so I'll do that as well. New videos sooner than later :)

Oh.. just realized I hadn't responded to the black/white smoke question. Watching my video above again it's white smoke for sure. So running lean I suppose

That smoke looks like its burning oil to me, too lean wouldnt produce any smoke
