769.JPG
2 wires connected, waiting for the last parts to arrive to finish it.
770.JPG
Start working on the interior, I placed some heat and noise killing foam on the back and instal the heater outlets.
771.JPG
One side done
772.JPG
Both sides done!
773.JPG
beside that I did some other little finishing things, but nothing special to show.

Stay tuned for more updates

The oil pressure sender and Fuel safety switch are in place. Tight fit but it will work this way :tu:
774.JPG
775.JPG
Spaghetti time, when everything works / engine fires up, i will wrap the wires and put them nice away.
776.JPG
Also the last Engine seal is in place. It took some time to fabricate this part but it looks great in place!

--------

Fuel system fill up fail :td:

Tank and lines are ok, had 1 leak by the carb, tighten it a little bit more and it was good.
Had another leak by the electric fuel pump, but couldn't tighten it, so i drain the fuel out, and disconnect the fuel pump.
Hopefully i can fix it and put everything back in place and fill it up again.

1 step forward, 2 steps back

--------

Stay tuned, working down a list to start the engine, but still loads of small jobs to do :ty:

True, little bit more work, oil filter change is planed for the winter time, when we are not driving the Corvair. so i got time to change the filter (unscrew the sensorts en the bolt of the oil filter). It should be ok, and if not i need to work on a new set up or make connectors on the wires or something for easy removal.

Looking great. That rear engine seal strip is supposed to sandwich between the upper flange of the rear aluminum grille and the body when you install the grille btw.
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.
Currently working full time repairing Corvairs and restoring old cars.

Here are some pictures of the fuel leak test. on every connection i put blue paper, if any liquid is falling on it, it will turn dark blue. They are all dry  thank you! time to put the fuel pump back in place and continue to work on the other little things to get the Lakewood start.

and the little battery arrived

Other question,
in the manual the diff should be filled with 5 pints of diff oil.
5 pints = 2,36 Liter.
I filled it up on the side near the axle as the manual showed on the little picture. After 1,6L = 3,5 pints there was diff oil comming out of the side, it was full. Maybe if the corvair is on her tyres i can fill it up a little bit more, but 3,5 pint instead of 5 pints is a lot of difference.

Does the diff really need 5 pints or is it full is full ?

Thank you have a great day!

Full should be full. Do not overfill because it will come out the vent and make a mess.
My '64 book says 4.5 pints which sounds about right.
Was your differential empty for sure? I don't recall if you rebuilt it.

OK thank you for your answer Joelsplace. :tu:
Yes it was empty, I will check again, when the Lakewood is on her wheels and see if I can add some more.

We made some awesome progres last day. All fluids are in the Corvair. Engine is fine, Powerglide gives us some minor jobs to do, but all came out fine. We can level the fluids when the engine is running, and pumped through the circuit.
782.JPG
Also we put in the steering wheel for easy turning. 4 wheels are in place and the Lakewood is ready for turning around. There are some last items in the list. The Corvair will be soon on her own tyres and turn around. The last steps before we try to fire it up!

Thank you, see you again for the next update!

Finaly after a long time the Lakewood is on her wheels and have seen some daylight!

We pushed it outside, enjoy the Lakewood and pushed it back in. This way the engine is at the garage doors. When we start the engine, we open the doors before we set the house in a smoking disco area :rolling:

Hello Lakewood!

Step by step outside.
