988165 trim rings

Post by bobg1951chevy »

I have a pristine 1969 500 Coupe, all stock.
Ebay has factory trim
rings , 988165, which were available for 1960 and 1961.
Will those trim rings work well with my 1969 LM factory wheels ?
If not, are there other Chevy trim rings that will work correctly with my 1969 stock 500 rims ?
Thank you,
Bob.

The 60-61 rims had bumps around the outside that retained trim rings. I do not believe that the 60-61 trim rings will mount to the 69 wheels (not 100% positive but pretty sure).

I have a set , purchased not long ago , for my 1964 "500" . Just found that they will not fit ..... I have two wheels with those four bumps ( not on car )and they do fit those wheels . I could get two more of the early wheels with the bumps but then my hub caps will not fit them .

Some of the Vega's had trim rings , they may work ???? Best I remember the Vega wheels did not have the four bumps .... Also I do not think Vega rings had the Chevy bow ties.....
One more thing that may work is wire wheel covers with all the spokes and spinners removed .
