Megajolt Maps ??

Post by acarlson »

Anyone out there running a Megajolt MK2 EDIS ignition ? I am seriously considering this ignition upgrade for my Corsa turbo but I'd like to have a map to get me running. If you've already worked out the advance/retard values for the various +/- manifold pressures & RPMs for a Vair turbo I'd like to get your map as a start to get me running. Let me know.

Thanks -

Alec

I’ve purchased the unit, have a LM turbo as well. Still working out the trigger wheel mount but would be interested in what you find.

Search for Edis Revisited on this forum. Also Miniman has timing maps for Corsa turbos

Yah, I checked with miniman before I posted this message. He couldn't help. I'm surprised that with the number of members here who have touted the superiority of the Megajolt that I haven't had more responses. You can't run the MJ without a map... Well, you can if you want to run with 10* advance all the time... I did find a couple of miniman's maps on the autolabs blog site but they were from 2008 and I have to believe that someone has better and more recent maps. I'll check the EDIS Revisited posts and see what they contain.

Thanks for your help.

There is a good discussion about ignition map development for a turbo at the corvaircenter forum: http://corvaircenter.com/phorum/read.php?1,995691 The author Ken is using The Black Box from CB Performance, which is about the same price as a Megajolt.

IMO you really need some sort of knock detection for safety's sake. There are lots of options, from under $100 to lots higher. You can even build your own if you like to play with electronics: http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/knock ... 15101.html

I too am surprised there are not more conversations about MJ and availability of parts. I guess at a minimum you can create a base map that mimics the mechanical system.

There is a base map generator over at this Megasquirt site: http://www.useasydocs.com/theory/spktable.htm You'll have to extrapolate from the table generated to the Megajolt 10x10 table as the table grid options are different but that shouldn't be too difficult. It should at least get your engine started and be better than a table derived from the stock ignition curve ::-):
