I believe my parents owned a Plymouth back in the 1950s with a push button automatic transmission. You could search for one of these "classics" if you really want as push button transmission.

Kinda leaves the Corvair a little "different"...

I had a push button dodge back in the 60's. I think people just think whatever is not a shift lever is a button. But in reality it is not much different from the Honda Odessey except Honda put plastic behind the lever.

Me too!! I'm not quite sure why so many people are hellbent on that weird notion that Corvairs had a push button tranny...

Maybe they were confusing the shift lever with the old push-button radio!

Brad, don't you pull the button "out", tune to the station and then push the button in.

What do I win? ;)

Alternately, you can tune to the desired station first, and then pull the button out and push it back in to memorize the current dial location on the selected button.

This was the only Corvair-related push button question I could think of to add to the enjoyment of this thread. Since push button radios were not installed in all Corvairs, this knowledge may almost be lost to us — especially among the very young! :whoa:

In any case, you win the admiration of all those who didn't know the answer. ::-):

My teen aged daughters were stumped about the push button radio setting on the 1966 Corsa AM/FM. Now here is some radio fun for anybody with a still working TUBE type radio.

I remember riding to high school in my friends 1960 4-Door. The tubes needed a while to warm up to get music. My 64 convertible had solid state. Instant AM radio. But in the red 1960... we were almost to school before any sound.

And 2-on-the-dash lever action Powerglide. But you could push start the old automatics.
