Let's See Some Vanity (Plates)

Post by azdave »

Okay. For fun let's see all your Corvair vanity or "year-of-issue" tags.

Rules.
1. A photo is required.
2. The plates must be real tags issued for motor vehicle use (current registration or expired is okay).
3. Must be displayed on a Corvair or Corvair-powered vehicle.
4. You should explain the meaning (if it is not obvious).
5. Please only post your own plates as some people are nervous about their license plates appearing on the internet (and yet they drive around in public).

Here are some of my Corvair tags.

Original 1966 Arizona year-of-issue plates on my 66 Corsa.

"Goodbye" on my 65 Corsa Toro.

"Big Block V8" previously on my 66 Corsa Toro.

"1966 7.0 Liter Big Block" plates currently on my 66 Corsa Toro.

When I first bought my car I was going to use FUELIE or something similar but they were already taken. I'm glad now because FUELIE would be silly on a carb'd car.

My second choice needs no explaination -- it represents both my car and me :burnout:

Heres mine. In the state of IL if you plate your vehicle as a antique, you can then run YOM plates on it. As long as you carry with you the current antique plates. I got these off of ebay for a steal. NOS '63 display plates, still with the original envelope and insert in it. I thought they were pretty cool. Wont see to many others running all 0's.

Look at the insert that was placed between the plates, you can see that its been in there so long that the numbers are imprinted into the paper. lol.

Both of these pictures were taken yesterday after Andria and I pushed out my Bronze car and her Blue car from the garage. Both of them got washed. I found the Bronze plate and just put it on the front of the car for the pics. This was the plate I had on the car when I was living with the parents in VA.

After moving to Maryland, this is the plate I got after a few car shows and hearing "Hey man, that is..."

I'm restoring a 1963 Monza Spyder.
I cut my teeth on the fender of a black 1960 Corvair 500 sedan,
and learned to work on 'Vairs by watching and helping my dad
keep three of 'em on the road. This one's for you, Dad.
