Clark's sells the bare cardboard panels so you can make your own or have your favorite upholstery shop make a set for you.

Perhaps you have already seen the custom 1965 Corvair Monza interior created by Jeff Lilly Restorations in San Antonio, Texas, but I believe that this is one of the best interior designs I've ever seen in a Corvair. It is certainly a model worth considering when you design your Corvair's interior.

If you're going to do custom work on your car, you should first decide on a theme. I think the Lilly restomod is outstanding, but I took a different approach. The Lilly-designed car is a very nice luxury cruiser. I chose the sport coupe / GT approach. The front seats, for example, were chosen to provide lateral support and firm seating. I threw in a bit of old school hotrod with the diamond upholstery pattern with red stitching. Instrumentation, suspension, steering, engine, and differential are all being upgraded to reflect the GT theme.

ABSOLUTELY! Both of the above examples are excellent, and both display a consistent theme and careful planning to carry that theme throughout the interior design. Examples like these are very helpful to other Corvair owners to help them to visualize different possibilities and to develop their own ideas and themes. Thanks for the great photos! :tu:

However....

:whoa:

Just having a theme does not always produce a good outcome!

Ah, yes, execution is vital. Btw, did you know that whatever the theme, that having a pretty engine will increase your horsepower by at least 10%?

The engine castings and cylinder jugs were media blasted by the engine builder (Gary Funkhouser), but I don't know the media type. Exhaust logs and exhaust pipes paint were high-temp paints from Eastwood (I can look up the exact p/n if you'd like). Mufflers are aluminized turbo mufflers from Hedman.
