Should I make more 1965 140hp Full Bearing Throttle linkages??

Post by rlp11 »

Hi Every One

I am offering this because I have been ask many time to build more 1965 140hp Linkage kits. I have been dis-assembling all my linkage test fixtures and have come up with 12 used rod arms. These are dull, dirty, some have scratched and some with multiple holes. All these rod arms are usable. I will clean them up as good as possible. See picture.
Used Rod Arms.jpg
The question for you guys and gals. If I used these used rod arms and make four 1965 140hp Linkage kits, all other components will be new parts, would it be worth $200 with shipping included per kit? That is a savings of $40 per kit.

Please just post with a ‘yes’ or ‘no’. If the yes wins I will build them and offer them on the Forum.

Roger

I am sure you would sell them easily if you made them. What about Clutch cables and pullies? Your design is the best on the market and a good clutch cable set up is something that should always sell IMO.

YES, YES, YES,

Back on Thu Feb 20, 2025 8:41 am Jackson Kendig » (Jkendig » ) posted that he was looking for a set of your linkage.
His Topic was titled "Roger Parent 140 Carburetor Linkage" http://www.corvairforum.com/forum/viewt ... ge#p151189

I doubt he is on the forum frequently but would like to commit to one set on his behalf....
In the event that he has already sourced a set, I WILL follow through with the purchase.

THANK YOU for even considering this. :tu:

EDIT:
I have been in touch with Jackson and he has confirmed that he would like one set of this linkage.
I will also commit to one set for myself. IF you have difficulty contacting Jackson, I will pay for his set and both can be sent to my address. He lives close to me and I can deliver it to him and collect if that works better for everyone.

Hi

It is not the distance but how many times you push the pedal. Going from my house to the 7-11 for a six pack I push the pedal 42 times in 1 1/2 miles. Six stop signs and two in-out of the parking space.

Roger, I used a full set of your linkage on the last 140 I built and was very impressed with your workmanship and quality. I have never liked the GM linkage design and as the parts wear out and the linkage holes become elongated, the car is no longer fun, or safe, to drive. I would not only encourage you to go forward with your plan, but more importantly, consider selling your operation to someone who would be interested in carrying on your work into the future. This would be a significant benefit to the entire Corvair community.

I know someone that may be interested - if you are willing to sell design, fixtures, etc.

Its been in my Car for 11 years, I bought it at the toss from Roger in 2014 with all the pullies he makes as well, the Clarks cable lasted 8 months in my car before snapping. With the pullies he sells it also makes the clutch action smoother. He did his research on these and they should be the standard "GO TO" Replacement cable system for everybody, they are better than stock and better than Clarks. :tu:

I bought 2 sets of the 110 carb linkages. One is on my More Door with 20k on it, It picked up some grit and became a sticky linkage issue. It was not the first item I went to for repairing the issue. The production linkage was gone through and cleaned first, But it still had a minor stiction. Cleaning of the linkage with alcohol and blowed dried fixed the remaining sticking it had.

The other set is on my big valve engine awaiting it turn on the engine stand.

I would like to get a pulley set for my Coupe. I have the original cable in it and a NOS spare in storage. Having the pulley could make both last longer.
