FC STEERING WHEEL

Post by jnels »

I picked up another FC and they both have aftermarket tiny steering wheels. Will any 60s full size Chevy steering wheels fit the FC?

Yes, as I recall, pre '67 steering wheels fit FC.

'67 and later fit the spline shaft but the canceling cam and horn contact are clocked wrong. These can be modified to work but it takes some "doing".

I don't like much dish to them.
I may have a FC steering wheel I could sell.

I had a similar issue with my 64 FC steering wheel and ended up 3D printing a modified cancelling cam and also an extended version of the spring loaded horn contact and it all works properly now. I think a previous owner might have mixed up some parts because things weren't lining up.

The FC wheel is flat as in no dish at all. The pick ups of that time had a couple inches of dish so the wheel would be closer to you.

Keep in mind that the 1964 Deluxe F.C.'s used a 1963 Car steering wheel which means there may be a chance that the spline might be different than the others.

I have not taken the wheel off of my Greenbrier yet to verify this so I could be mistaken about these potentially having a different spline.

The 63 car steering wheel has the larger splines. The only cars that had the smaller splines were the 64,5 and 6.

The FC spline is the same as most any GM spline in any other car and will bolt on. The caveats have already been said.
