Help identify closest match to my original seat upholstery
Help identify closest match to my original seat upholstery
Hello & Happy Thanksgiving to all
I was just trying to select what my closest to original for my new seat covers from Clark's.
I can't seem to figure it out.
Anyone has any guesses or if this is even original to my car?
Attached is a sample from my seat & my seats.
Thanks

Ok What year is the car? What model is it looks like a 500 perhaps? Clark's Corvair parts has most of the vinyl and door panels available. I would suggest you look at the catalog (paper catalog...if you do not have one GET ONE) and particularly the first few pages (starting at page A, 500 model vinyl is on page B). From these photos you should be able to order some samples that match your year and model and then be able t5o pick the one that it is or is closest to.
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.

1961 Lakewood 500
I have the book & none seems to match it. I'll have to look more closely. It has that strip across the top & sides.
Thanks!

I also see nothing specific for that application. It may be that they have nothing exact for that application. Call them and ask. If the material is not available you may have to pick a different fabric to upholster the seats and have the door panels made from. Did a 62 700 wagon for a man 2 years ago. We used nice red Monza cloth for the seats and Monza style vinyl for the panels. Sharp as a tack!!
Clarks does make a couple 500 style door panels that may or may not be just like those. They are talked about in the door panel section of the catalog, but, they are not well depicted in photos.

They don't have the exact design of the panels. I will probably go with B with the same colors.
If you go to page 269D & pick C9665W online to view it, it seems to be almost spot on. So I'm guessing my seats are not fabric & are vinyl. Then it it would be making sure it has that green that is close. Not to mention the white strip.
As for the door panels. I was leaning towards B with 1 & 3 being that green or turquoise. 2 will be that lighter blue or whatever.
Anyway I will probably call them on Monday & chat to see what seats will be the closest pick.
Headliner, I haven't decided what color yet. It was a tan, probably will stick with that.
Here's a question, should I use Kilmat or a similar sound deadening on the inside of the roof? My concern was it could get to hot & the Kilmat fall off the roof to the headliner. The Kilmat says it can take up to 212°F, would it ever get that hot? Kyle Storm

Inside the roof I would use Dynaliner. It is a Dynamat foam product that is light and adheres well . Goes in before the headliner.

Since the lighter strips are sewn on , I would think that Clarks can add that top strip for you at a reasonable additional cost , even though they only show the two strips . I would suggest that you get them to install the nail strips . I bought a set for my 500 and installed the nail strips , they are difficult to get on as Clarks uses vinyl for that nail strip covering around the outside edges and it is harder to work with than the original plasticStorm wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 8:35 pm They don't have the exact design of the panels. Re: Help identify closest match to my original seat upholstery
As for the seats , if Clarks cannot match colors , I would take a sample to a local upholstery shop . They can often find nearly any material in any color . Same on the door panels , maybe you can purchase the material you want and send it to Clarks . Ask Clarks first though
Re: Help identify closest match to my original seat upholstery
I purchased some ‘64 Impala fabric to do seats on my ‘64 Monza convertible (vinyl too hot in FL). I used SMS Auto Fabrics - they have EVERYTHING and the fabric is original and beautiful. I had Clark’s sew the covers using the Impala fabric as inserts. They did a wonderful job!

Clarks also did custom door panels for me using the Impala fabric and installed their nail strips

Excusing the not-installed-yet interior pieces... we are in the middle of moving (building a new house with a nice shop :) )
Here are the seats and door panels with the 64 Impala fabric
