LM 4-Door Rear Post
LM 4-Door Rear Post
Can someone share a pic of a rear door post & hinges on a LM 4-door (with the door open)? Never seen one, I suppose it's a relatively small freestanding post. Does the frame flex a lot, or is the body stiffened accordingly?

Re: LM 4-Door Rear Post
Here are a couple of pictures I had on my PC...
I haven't noticed any 4-door chassis flexing. The hard top structure probably helps with that (my 1966 was born in Los Angeles (Van Nuys GM plant) and the previous owners all lived in Southern California, so the car has no signs of rust or road salt exposure or associated damage). The convertibles usually have more issues with chassis flexing and deterioration due to internal rust an body rot in the box structure around the door perimeter.

Thanks Brad. Very cool. If anyone has pics with both doors open, that would also be helpful.

The car isn't flexy but the door post is somewhat. They can get really flexy there if there is rust.

Probably so. I just mean that my South Carolina car has plenty of rust, so just as well to have only 2 doors. :)
Brad was smarter than me, he took a California car to SC, I went the opposite way.

The 4 door center post moves when you slam the door, but very little.
Motohead on had one that really moved a lot. He found one of the welds had broken at the floor. He welded it up and it was fine.
