Jeez, I get JEALOUS seeing these old cars in such amazing shape. Nearly all of these barn finds and some parts donor cars in Motohead's videos are in better shape than the '67 Monza rustbucket I'm working on. Better paint. Less rust. Original, stock, complete. Convertible. Corsa. Turbo...
But I still love mine, she's my first car. I'm in a committed relationship of 40 years now, so I can't toss her rusty carcass aside. We're in Los Angeles now but she's from humid South Carolina and has the rust belt scars to prove it. She's been rotting in my garage for 20 years, but now she's my Covid project. She's the ONE GOOD THING that has come out of this stupid lockdown. I've been saying "someday" for 20 years and I have been having a ball working on my gal since I rolled her out into the driveway in May. She ain't all stock, she'll never be a show car, but she's all mine and I'm looking forward to that first trip around the block. Hopefully by summer's end. Much to do, pull the 140HP and do some stuff, mainly replacing seals. Pull & reseal the gas tank, rebuild the front end, redo the interior and more.
Two guys stopped by the house yesterday to ask if the Corvair was for sale. Of course I said no but it felt nice that they asked!
Man, that first trip around the block is gonna be sweet.
