Frustrated again

Post by 62droptop »

I recently went to a parts guy and purchased what I thought was the correct sheet metal for my 62 with a 65 engine. I cannot figure out how this piece fits on the right side. ALSO what is the groove for that I have the arrow pointing to. I have a photo of both sides of this piece. Also a shot of my Motor where I think it should go but it doesn't seem to fit no matter what or how I twist it around. Is it the wrong piece for this car?? I was told they are all the same for LM and EM's. Help

The part Marked "A: with the "Ridge: that curves fits against the lower part of the block.
The hole Marked "B" is for the stud in the head to go through.
The section Marked "C" has two threaded holes that the top shroud bolts thread into.
The section Marked "D" is where a bolt secures the tin to the block.

The double flange on the skinny part of the piece fits over the lower edge of the block (thin part of the block inserts between the double flange. You must removed the thermostat door piece that is on the engine to install this part. Once this part is on the engine then install the thermostat door piece.
