UK agreed value Insurance

Post by dolomitefan »

Anyone in the UK been able to get a reasonable insurance valuation for their Greenbrier? I usually have an agreed value on my policies but this is first time for a Greenbrier. Adrian Flux disagreed with my valuation and have set it at £8000. I think this is a bit low. Just wondered if anyone had managed to secure a higher value?

With so few in the UK it would be difficult I imagine.

That valuation is about $11,000.00 U.S. Depending on options and condition Greenbrier prices cover a wide range making them hard to value even in the U.S.

Not knowing how vehicle insurance works in the U.K. (even in the U.S. it varies by state) I would base value on what you paid for your vehicle plus the cost of locating and shipping a replacement vehicle from the U.S.A.

Have you tried RH Specialist Insurance? We have a value on the policy but I think it can only be agreed through them if garaged or with an independent valuation. £109 fully comp with limited mileage.

Classic line have done a Good deal for me this year £198 fully comp with breakdown cover unlimited mileage with 6pts on licence. It's on my 65 corsa. Then it's £30 for agreed value which I got at £15000. You fill form out send 6 current photos job done.

If you have already committed to Adrian flux what out round renewal date they have just taken money out for my mates caddy 2 weeks before renewal date.

TBH I ended up with Adrian Flux as I use them for another car and time was short. I have written back to them to explain and justify the value they've put on the van. I believe I purchased it 'cheap' and that upon inspection it's become obvious that it's probably worth more. Of course it's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay but I saw 2 Greenbriers sell on Ebay in the UK for between 11-14k last year and appeared to be of comparable condition.

Their agreed value system is very similar, send them some pics and they will appraise. Some companies will accept a club valuation (such as my Dolomite) but there seems to be no such scheme for Corvairs in the UK. I'll await their response but I may end up having to have it 'professionally valued' just to be safe. I always like to use the agreed value to avoid any potential problems with value in the event of a total loss claim.

Thanks for the heads up about renewal, been caught out by that before.

I would advise considering Haggerty insurance at your next renewal. Not only did they come up considerably cheaper than Footman James at renewal but I managed to add another road going car and two projects...for less than the renewal price from FJ for the Corvair alone. I cannot remember the agreed value (probably what I paid plus shipping) but I've only heard good reports from Haggerty in the UK.

Really? Have you a link to any of the old adverts, I'd love to see them if they sold for that kind of money. Although I can't imagine who would pay it.

I use AFlux, but I didn't get around to agreeing a value. I know I should, I've just been lazy. You've spurred me to do it know.

Cheers,
