Passenger side outside mirror location '65 to '69.

Unread post by bobg1951chevy » Tue Sep 12, 2017 10:58 pm

1965 to 1969 PASSENGER OUTSIDE MIRROR LOCATION.
I now have a N.O.S. Right mirror, but no template came with the mirror.
For those of you who have a factory right outside mirror, how far is the distance from the leading edge of the mirror base to the door / fender gap ?
Thanks.

Yes, your pic does help. Thank you.

In that position, is your visibility good from drivers seat ?

I do see you have good clearance from vent glass.

It looks identical to my 65. Visibility was terrible until I put seat track extenders on it pushing seat back. It still isn't great.

Typically left and right side mirrors have identical mounting points as does my 65 Corsa convert

I understood the right mirror was set further FORWARD, but that would interfere with the wing window operation.

1965 Corvair Outside Rear View Mirror Assembly.jpg
The attached 1965 Corvair Assembly Manual - OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR section describes the left-side installation for both the regular and remote control mirror on the 1965 Corvair. I did not find anything for the passenger side, but the pictures would seem to show an identical location in relation with the window wing frame as a reference.
