Another challenge for "Mart" when he finishes his Pennsylvania Bondo Bucket in the UK. ::-):

Terms like Patina, Garage Find, Barn Find, Rare, Rust Free, Ran When Parked, Simple Fix, Low Mileage, and others like them have been abused to the point that when used in an ad, they are meaningless anymore. :banghead: :my02:

The one term I really can't stand these days would be "Rat Rod". :assault:

I wonder if the ad for the above convertible may have included words like ran when parked, will buff out, one owner, or needs work?

That photo while unfortunate, is interesting to look at. It looks like the hood was pried open. Maybe to disconnect the battery? ::-):

Probably an electric fuel pump started a fire & someone tried to open the hood because of an engine fire. :nono:

That isn't patina, that happened very quickly with a fire. Patina occurs over a long period of time.

My Corvair has awesome patina, you can't make or fake a real patina!

What happens when your patina riddled car, 1. Gets smashed by another driver, but fixable (can your insurance cover " loss of patina"
2. has rust issues that render your patina car unsafe to drive or 3. Patina goes out of style

Well there is nothing more hideous ugly and wrong than fake patina.

The original no-paint-job paint job is flat black. My 63 Falcon was just rattle-can flat black.
Some pay big bucks to have a no-paint-job paint job in flat black. Sheesh.

"real flames" were the big trend a while back, maybe still is.. Just no where to go with that one, who can look more real??
The rat rod thing leaves huge opening for creativity, so I like it.
