There is so much about this Corvair that screams "FAST RACE CAR!!" The massive tires and wheels, the fuel fill mod, the color... and then... Powerglide???

It is something of an unfinished symphony... a composition of different elements... with one that doesn't fit in...

It's Ok, don't lose sleep over it! This is just a fun little commuter car with a cool twist. Yes, it has a powerglide for now........

Actually, I like the look of the car... but since you asked for some feedback, I couldn't resist taking a poke at you. I had never seen a Corvair with that fuel filler treatment, and it came out pretty good! A real attention grabber! The red with black accents is also dramatic and tasteful, and of course the tires and wheels make a severe statement!

I have heard that some who race Corvairs in autocross events actually prefer the Powerglide transmission. It is solid and pretty bulletproof, and I've heard it can be helpful in obtaining better track times, since the driver can focus on power, steering and braking, and doesn't have to be distracted with constantly stirring the manual transmission.

Keep up the great work! ::-):

This is my son's car. He came home this summer with ambitions to do a quick paint job. As with all our projects, it turns into a "Why don't we do this". For next summer he has talked about brake upgrades and engine/trans swaps. We'll see what comes about next year. Thanks for posting.

Nothing wrong with powerglides. Some of the fastest Toyota supras ever run them as do other cars.

A Corvair with a powerglide combined with a turbo has proven to be a hot ticket for drag racing... unless you have to wait too long for the christmas tree and it gets too hot.
