Project of the Month?

Post by Scott H »

What about having a project of the month?
The prizes could be Gift Certificates from Corvair Vendors top help out with parts for the project.
It could work much like the Corvair of the Month.

This is how it could work. :chevy:
1. Enter a project vehicle
a. You must own the vehicle
b. It must be a Corvair or Corvair powered
2. It must be a current project, (meaning one you are currently working on).
3. Post pictures (as found, progress thus far) and a story of the car (ie, how you got it, etc.)
4. Post your plans for the project.
5. Members vote for the most deserving project.

i like the idea! does it have to be a complete car or a certain project you are doing to a certain part of your car? like if someone were changing a paint scheme, redoing an interior, or refurbishing a engine compartment

A serious project gets my vote

I have a serious project for July --- And another for August - and -----

For July my project is to replace the cylinder that I blew up at the Corvair Olympics 2 years ago and actually drive my Vair again .
At the time I borrowed a cyl from my still unbuilt spare new motor and used it to run the events but I took it back out a few months ago and planned on replacing with a good used one I had in stock but life got in my way in the meantime.

I need to install the rings and install the piston (floating pins), anneal the copper head gaskets and then bolt the head back on . It's got a new dist so I may hafta adjust the timing curve too.

I too have to take apart my engine as I broke the rings while at the convention.

All I have to do is resurrect my '67 500 coupe that hasn't driven under its own power in something like 15-20 years. The engine, not quite so long. I've got the engine running (barely), still need to rebuild carbs and general tuneup, clean gas tank, fix exhaust, replace front floorboards, has no brakes....$$ is slowing me down more than the brakes do, lol!

How about we take 5 or 10 of the most active threads in "Member's Rides, Projects, and Builds" and use them in the poll (which can be a sticky at the top of the section). That way the projects are tracked and progress shown right their where they are supposed to be and we don't have redundant project threads. I think we should also make it so the same person is eligible to win multiple times.

What do you think?
