A couple days ago, my friend Rick & I pressed in some rivets to the arms where the tubular rivets were originally. An application of marine grease was applied to the copper plate ball areas for lubrication.
Yesteday, Donna and I installed the wiper operating mechanism to the mounts. I applied some wheel bearing grease to the motor arm ball and its copper plates. Nuts were installed and tightened. Operated system and it worked fine and parked properly. Installed front air inlet grill and wiper blade arms. Hosed down windshield and operated wipers. Observed normal low and high speeds. I still want to improve the grounding of the switch by adding the wire shown in a previous post. But that is for another day.

Congratulations. A lot of work, but worth it.
Many complain of the SLOOOOW Corvair wipers, but when new they worked fine (I was driving then
) When I dismantled my wiper linkage I was surprised how much the mechanism was binding. It is not something you consider until you get it apart.
Thanks for sharing.

Yep, heard and read others talk about slow wipers. I lived with them as long as I could. I am going to connect the old motor to the car's circuits and hook a ground to it. Then I will turn it on to see its actual operating speed, without being dragged down by the binding pivots. The motor may still be a good unit to keep for a backup.
Donna and I drove the Vair yesterday evening to meet friends for dinner. Of course, rain was happening all day, but had subsided by the time we left home. But never fear, Mother Nature made sure we got a good rain shower for about 1/2 our drive. The wipers were used in both speed modes to keep the windshield clear. It was the final test of the system and the system passed successfully.

Thanks for the update. In your opinion, are the wipers faster now on a wet windshield??

Yes, about 4 times faster. I believe the pivot assemblies were the cause for the slow operation. But won't know for sure until I test the old motor with no mechanism attached.

Thanks for the response --- that is a worthwhile improvement.
