Engine Rebuilders in California

Post by Rampside4MySons »

Hello, I'm Eric and I am new here

I just got a 1961 Rampside , in great condition, California Truck, Straight body, light rust low on one side due to sprinkler, pretty clean inside and out

The guy I purchased it from showed me a invoice from a shop showing the engine was worked on last summer

But due to the valve cover leak and what looks like old falling apart White cloths dryer hose that was used to cool off the engine, oh and he for got to tell me the Black and Red battery cables were switched , so Red is ground and Black is HOT???? And the battery is smaller then the one that should be used

Basically I am saying I don't trust the work that was done

Trucks mileage gauge says 30,800, not sure if it is really 130,800

But due to that stuff and who knows what other stuff is hidden, I decided to have the motor completely Rebuilt

That way I can drive it and not worry so much about doing major damage to it

Can anyone recommend anyone here in California to do the job?

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you
Eric

P/M sent...Dave is the most reasonable, most knowledgeable, best choice for sure.

This is my favorite picture of him in the car he did 99% of the work on it for me.

I do all my own work...I was still working then and didn't have the time.

Sadly S. California has had a history of some less than reputable Corvair repair places.

That said - both DaveMotohead and Dan at California Corvair have good reputations.

Since Dave is closer I'd try him. And ask to meet "The Garage Chicken".
