Carb. Rebuild???

Post by bghandyman »

Hello Corvair nuts, rebuilding the carbs on my '69 /140 for the first time. Got the first primary (left side) done with no problems. Ended up ordering all new throttle shafts and the seal kits after seeing how worn the first one was. Then when I pulled the first secondary (left side) I noticed 2 things. 1. The main jets are different sizes. Is this normal/ OK?? The primary is a 52, and the secondary is a 49. 2. This one concerns me a little more when I pulled the secondary found the bottom of it was covered in oil, and the little well where the shorter carb stud goes had oil in it. Maybe a head gasket or something more serious??
When the car was still running before I started this job this was the bad side blowing a lot of smoke till she warmed up.
Does this relate to my previous post "Hydro locked engine" Sorry wish I could attatch it. Thanks in advance for the help

As far as different jets, yes its ok, my 140 has different size jets in the secondaries too.
